An adaptation of our article in the modernist #32, Autumn 2019 issue exploring the Invisible. The article, written in collaboration with local photographer Vishnu Jayarajan, explores the loss of the Safari Cinema on the corner of Sumner Road, revealing the hidden icons of Croydon’s diverse population that present an alternative, localised image of the borough, far removed from the modernist spectacle of its centre.
